In a world filled with networks and connections, are you building and sustaining trust?

Updated: Jan 29

I recently had the privilege of facilitating a Wisdom Horse session - an Equine Assisted Learning Program 🐴 (Team-building exercises where individuals and teams engage in ground-based activities with horses).

During the session we do not ride horses. Instead, we partner with these magnificent creatures in a psychologically safe space to refine our ability to build and sustain trust. Why? Because the ability to sustain (not just build) trust should be a natural and essential skill for any team member. 💪

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 = 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 = 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲.

In the world of sales, TRUST gets you to the win.

In the world of life, TRUST makes everything better.

These gentle giants are smart, intuitive, and brilliant at levelling the playing field.

Let me share some 🐎 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝘀:

𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗦:

As prey animals (in the wild, they’re hunted), horses need to discern others' intentions quickly. If a horse doesn’t like you, chances are...you’re NOT an authentic person.

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘂𝗽 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀:

Horses respond in real time, providing valuable feedback on perceived safety and alignment between your thoughts and actions. Leaders take note!

𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲:

No matter how much you plan, you can’t fully prepare for what the horse brings to the herd (aka your team). Flexibility is key!

𝗧𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹:

For horses, trust is built through consistent and corresponding actions. There’s no separation between what they THINK, FEEL, and DO.

𝗨𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀:

Horses, free of malice, never pass judgement. They forgive freely and welcome vulnerability—whether it’s you challenging the norm, speaking up, or making mistakes.

I’ve partnered with 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺 in New Hampshire and the 𝗪𝗶𝘀𝗱𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 to offer individuals and teams this unique, transformative experience with these incredible creatures.

Let me know how I can help you find your herd and accelerate your understanding of the power of empathy and trust. 💞

🐴 Ps Thanks to my horse partner "Willow".
